The Hamilton Heights baseball team visited Anderson for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 11. The Huskies headed home with a sweep of the two games, 2-1 and 11-1.
Game one was a low-scoring, helping starter Owen Hughes have a great night pitching. Hughes got the win, striking out nine Indians in 5.1 innings.
Heights scored first in the second when Brennen Heckman drove in Josh Newton on a ground out.
Anderson tied it 1-1 in the bottom, but a Cy Mason sacrifice fly scored Austin Kappes for the 2-1 win.
Game two saw the Huskies taking out the Indians 11-1 in five innings.
Heights put up seven in the first, highlighted by Kappes’ bases-clearing triple for a 7-0 lead.
Anderson scored its lone run on a wild pitch in the second.
AJ Flanagan walked to score Colt Johnson. A Newton double made it 10-1, sending Rob Pruitt and Tyson Upchurch home.
Dillon Pitts doubled home Newton for the final run to end the game in five innings.
Hamilton Heights (3-2, 0-0) hosts the 3A No. 4 Western Panthers (5-0, 2-0) in a pivotal Hoosier Conference battle in Arcadia tonight at 6 p.m.
