Dear Editor:
For years, Carmel has led all Hamilton County metropolitan areas in total outstanding debt.
But last week, the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance reported a change in leadership.
As Carmel’s reported debt fell some $300 million after a dozen bonds were retired, Fishers took over first place.
The race, if you can call debt increases a race, has Fishers’ $1.44 billion ousting Carmel’s $1.40 billion.
Stay tuned to learn if city central planners add more debt to the load we all carry.
