The Carmel Fire Department, joined by local civic leaders and community members, officially unveiled a unique fire hose flag on Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the Fire Department headquarters during a ceremony commemorating National First Responders Day.

Handcrafted from retired fire hose line previously used by the Fire Department, the commemorative artwork serves as a lasting symbol of honor, service, and the enduring dedication of Carmel’s first responders. The piece highlights the vital relationship between public safety personnel, city leadership, and the residents they serve. This piece was designed and produced by Brotherhood Designs Corporation.

“We believe that honoring those who serve is a responsibility shared by an entire community,” said Rob Demlow, president and co-founder of Brotherhood Designs Corporation. “This flag represents more than patriotism. It represents the men and women who answer the call, the families who support them and a city whose leadership understands the importance of recognizing their service.”

The unveiled fire hose flag will remain on display at the Carmel Fire Department headquarters, 210 Veterans Way.

“This piece symbolizes more than just retired hose line,” Mayor Sue Finkam said. “It carries the history of our fire department’s service to the Carmel community. It stands as a testament to the strong bond between our firefighters and the citizens they protect every day.”
