Carmel to hold Flood Recovery Open House; Health Department will offer tetanus shots

The Hamilton County Health Department and Indiana Department of Health will be available to assist residents impacted by recent flooding during Carmel’s Flood Recovery Open House from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25.

The open house will take place in the Main Building/Atrium at Northview Church, 12900 Hazel Dell Pkwy., Carmel.

Residents can receive tetanus vaccinations, assistance with birth certificate replacements, and information about environmental cleanup and private well water safety.

The open house, hosted by Mayor Sue Finkam and the City of Carmel, will connect residents with local and state agencies, disaster relief organizations and other community partners offering resources for flood recovery. This event will follow an informal, drop-in format with no formal presentations.

“Floodwater and debris can contain bacteria and other contaminants, and even a small cut or puncture wound can put you at risk for tetanus,” Health Department Administrator Jason LeMaster said. “If you’re not sure when you had your last tetanus shot, stop by the open house and talk with us.”
