Gallery event to raise funds to support athletes with special needs
As Team USA prepares to compete in the XIII Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing, a Carmel art gallery is making plans to celebrate the work of Team USA in the World Photographic Cup as well as support local athletes with special needs.
“This is the first time the finalists for the World Photographic Cup have been presented in a gallery open to the public,” said World Cup team member and Carmel photographer Roben Bellomo. “We invite the public to stop by and check out the exhibit at our First Friday event on March 4. Come enjoy some live music and watch the opening ceremonies of the Paralympic Games with us.”
BEHN Gallery will donate a percentage of sales to Special Olympics Indiana, The ARC of Indiana, GiGi’s Playhouse Indianapolis, and the Indiana Alliance on Prenatal Substance Exposure. Each of the organizations will also be on-hand to provide education and outreach materials. Plus, several Special Olympic athletes will be in attendance to share their personal journeys.
“We saw an opportunity to shine a light on Special Olympic athletes as well as the photographers who compete in the World Photographic Cup,” added Bellomo. “Both are immensely talented and deserve to be celebrated for their accomplishments.”
The World Cup exhibit is located at BEHN Gallery, 2149 Glebe St., Suite 100, Carmel, and will run through the end of March.
