On Friday night, July 10, the Mellencougar band from Shepherdsville, Ky., belted out hits for two hours as a large crowd at Cool Creek Park in Westfield enjoyed brats and hot dogs from the Rotary tent. The crowd was estimated to be around 2,000 and enjoyed a beautiful evening of familiar hits from Indiana’s well-known crooner.
Rotary Club of Westfield had almost three-fourths of its members on hand to raise money for community causes like Open Doors, Student Impact, and Robbie’s Hope Club. All the proceeds go to local community needs.
Like the previous concerts at Cool Creek, Rotary held a 50/50 raffle that raised funds for Westfield Youth Assistance Program (WYAP). This week’s drawing raised the largest amount yet and have averaged over $500 donated to each organization.
WYAP advocates for youth ages 3 to 17 who are facing challenging life circumstances and connect them to the services they need most. The program looks to have a positive impact on the youth they serve in the Westfield Washington School district.
The Rotary Club of Westfield is filled with members who serve numerous local charities in Westfield and has a history of silently assisting organizations from the time they are fledgling in size to well-known community advocates. Members are business owners, city council members, retirees, engineers, sales professionals, and financial professionals who serve with compassion and humility.
