Not everyone made it out of 1956 alive

The Nickel Plate Express (NPX) fired up the time machine magic last weekend when passengers took on a one-night-only 1956 Murder Express.

It was a nostalgic journey as passengers embarked on the inaugural run of the newly built Santa Fe El Capitan Hi-Level cars on July 8, 1956.

Departing from the historic Hobbs Station in Forest Park, everyone hopped aboard these luxurious new train cars for a delightful 45-minute ride north to The Remnant Coffee Shop in Arcadia for an evening with mystery and suspense.

As with every Murder Express, not everyone made it through the night, though, and it was up to passengers to help a detective to figure out whodunnit.

Fans of murder mystery dinner theater have long been flocking to these NPX excursions, and the rider response for this one was so enthusiastic that Executive Director Emily Reynolds felt compelled to schedule another Murder Express for November. Details on that will be forthcoming in the pages of The Reporter.
