David Franklin Prough

January 4, 1945 – August 20, 2026

David Franklin Prough, 81, Noblesville, died and entered into eternal rest with the Lord Jesus on August 20, 2026, following complications from multiple myeloma. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be missed every day.

David was born January 4, 1945, in Anderson, Ind., to Dale and Marjorie Prough, the identical twin of his brother Dan. The youngest of five children, they grew up on a farm in Alexandria, where they loved shooting basketballs in the barn.

David first met the love of his life, Charlotte (Urban) Prough, in second grade, and they became high school sweethearts. At Alexandria High School, David excelled in football, basketball, and baseball. As seniors, David and Dan helped lead the Tigers basketball team to a 21-4 record, the 1963 Madison County sectional championship, and the Indiana state regionals at Butler Field House.

David and Charlotte married May 23, 1964, at the United Methodist Church in Alexandria. Their three children, Becky, Todd, and Rosalynn, meant the world to them. David prioritized family togetherness through vacations, camping trips, summer baseball, day trips, and county fairs.

David earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Indiana University, where he and Dan received athletic scholarships to play baseball. After graduating in 1967, he began a management career in the rental car industry, working in Louisville, Cleveland, and for 20 years at major airports in Northern California. He returned to Indiana in 1989 and eventually retired from the Indianapolis Airport.

David was an active member of Harbour Shores Church, where he often helped with Sunday morning coffee service.

He loved sports, a good game of cards, discovering a great diner, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He frequently traveled to California for vacations, graduations, and weddings. During visits to Indiana, he taught his grandchildren card games and fishing and took those interested to the Indy 500 or Brickyard 400.

David was preceded in death by his cherished daughter, Rosalynn Prough, and his parents. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; daughter Becky Furtado (John); son Todd Prough (Julie); grandchildren Joshua, Rachel, Mark, Emily, Andrew, Sara, and Katie; great-grandchildren Hayden, Riley, and Giovanna; and siblings Nancy Johnson (Bob), John Prough (Karen), Richard Prough, and Dan Prough (Kathy).

Services honoring David’s life, legacy, and faith will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at Harbour Shores Church, 8011 E. 216th St., Cicero.
