WGU Indiana announces this month that Antonette Burroughs has been named a Strategic Partnerships Manager (SPM).

Burroughs has served as a Program Mentor with the nonprofit, online university in the College of Business for more than three years. She also brings more than seven years of experience working directly in partnership development and management across different industries.

Burrough’s primary role as SPM is to sustain and develop new relationships with local companies, organizations and municipalities to provide higher education and degree completion opportunities to their employees and members throughout the state of Indiana. Promoting the value of WGU’s educational programs, SPMs develop connections with employers to benefit both the university and its local partners with workforce development through continuing education.

“We are delighted to welcome Antonette to our Strategic Partnerships team,” WGU Indiana Chancellor Alison Bell said. “From her experience as a WGU Program Mentor, Antonette has firsthand knowledge regarding student needs, challenges they face pursuing postsecondary education, and how strategic partnerships support and enable educational and career pathways.”

Prior to joining WGU as a Program Mentor in 2019, Burroughs taught at Ivy Tech Community College in the College of Business as an adjunct. She also worked throughout Indiana as a pharmaceutical specialty representative for top pharmaceutical companies. In the early 2000s, she worked in Global Alliances for Oracle Corporation managing key partnerships.

“As a Program Mentor, I saw how WGU changes lives for the better and what it takes to cultivate a great experience for students,” Burroughs said. “As I move into this strategic partnerships role, I’m looking forward to impacting students on a newer, larger scale by developing and nurturing partnerships with local employers and institutions to drive new opportunities to adult learners across the state.”

Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Burroughs earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Cleveland State University. She currently resides in Carmel, where she enjoys participating in several road cycling organizations, hot yoga, and indoor cycling.
