Hamilton County gearing up for Memorial Day remembrances

American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts in Hamilton County will conduct their annual Memorial Day tributes to fallen veterans on May 31. The public is welcome to attend the traditional rites on Monday.

Noblesville Legion and VFW honor guard members will conduct an 11 a.m. service at the county memorial on the Courthouse Square, followed by a salute to veterans buried at Riverside Cemetery.

Then, a rededication of the expanded veterans memorial at Crownland will be conducted, followed by a lunch for veterans and friends at the VFW Hall.

Carmel Legion and VFW posts will hold memorial services Monday beginning at 9 a.m. at the Hamilton Memorial Park Cemetery near Westfield.

Tributes will then follow at Summit Lawn, Little Eagle Creek, Farley and Carmel cemeteries.

Sheridan veterans organizations will have rifle salutes at Boxley Cemetery at 10 a.m. followed by similar observances at the other Sheridan area cemeteries.

Fishers Legion members will conduct a memorial at City Hall at 9:30 a.m. Monday, followed by a brief service at the Fishers American Legion Post where a meal will be served to veterans following the memorial.
