Granville Lee Baber

August 11, 1937 – May 6, 2024

Granville Lee Baber, 86, Arcadia, passed away quietly at his home with family by his side on Monday, May 6, 2024.

Granville was born in Mancelona, Mich., on August 11, 1937, to the late Carl & Dorothy (Robbins) Baber.

As a child, Granville grew up in the Michigan lumber camps where his father worked. Later the family would move to Noblesville, where he attended Noblesville School and met the love of his life Carol Jean Baker, whom he married on June 7, 1957. Granville and Carol shared 67 years of marriage.

Granville worked at Noblesville Casting Foundry for 44 years, where he worked rebuilding furnaces. In his free time, he loved to fish and camp. Granville took many fishing and camping trips with family and friends over the years, including a three-week trip out west with Kenny & Liz Whisman and Nolan & Wanda Purkey. Granville’s greatest joy was his family. He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren and cherished those moments.

Granville is survived by his wife Carol; son, Greg (Mary) Baber of Atlanta; daughters, Cynthia (Dave) Campbell of Arcadia and Cheryl (Dave) Vredeveld of Avon, Ind.; grandchildren, Dylan (Susan) Baber, Carissa (Brian) Greene both of Atlanta, Cory (Nicole) Campbell of Tipton, Ind., Samantha (John) Skibinski of Carmel, Shawn (Amy) Scott of Vancouver, Wash., and Alishia (Luke Knapp) Scott of Cicero; great-grandchildren, Adyson, Alayna, Aubrey, Braxtyn, Zacharya, Noah, Hayley, Jeff, James, Arlo, Eloise, Calvin, and Ashlyn; great-great-grandchildren, Hayden, Maylea, and Lynelle; sister, Dolly Hunter of Arcadia; and several nieces and nephews.

Granville was preceded in death by his parents, Carl & Dorothy Baber; and brothers, Stanley, Carl, and Roy Baber.

The Baber family would like to personally thank all the nurses at Heart & Soul Caring (Tipton), Paradigm Health (Kokomo), and Home Helpers Health Care (Carmel).

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2024, at Hartley Funeral Home, 209 W. Jackson St., Cicero, with Mark Knapp officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery, 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis.

A time for visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2024, at Hartley Funeral Home.
