Carmel Clay Historical Exhibit on display now at CAC Children’s Gallery

Photos provided by Carmel Clay Historical Society

The Carmel Clay Historical Society (CCHS) is the featured exhibit for August and September at the Carmel Arts Council’s Gallery.

The exhibit focuses on the Kinzer family, a pioneer family who came to Carmel in 1828. The Kinzer family created a thriving farm, maple sugar camp and community in Carmel. The exhibition focuses on the work of the first three generations of Kinzer descendants. Artifacts used by the Kinzer family are on display as well as art created by Kinzer descendants.

The gallery is open Friday through Sunday and is run solely by volunteers. The gallery’s hours are 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The Carmel Arts Council Gallery is located at the intersection of Main Street and Veterans Way. (Look for The Pint Room, Muldoon’s, Gallery, and Chocolate Café on each corner.)

If you are interested in volunteering with the gallery, please contact Debbie Gangstad at dgangstad@carmelclayhistory.org. The gallery is the current holder of the Guinness Book of World Records record for smallest children’s gallery in the world.

CCHS is grateful for this opportunity to showcase its collection while the museum is closed for construction.
