The Guerin Catholic boys golf team won the Harrison regional, which took place Friday, June 12 at Coyote Crossing Golf Course in West Lafayette.
The Golden Eagles scored 303 to win the program’s second regional championship; their first was in 2021. Westfield placed second with 310 and Brownsburg was third by scoring 317. All three schools advance to this week’s IHSAA state finals at Prairie View Golf Club.
Guerin Catholic had two golfers finish in the top five and all of its players score below 80. Eli Wessel tied for third place individually with 74, while Andrew Williamson tied for fifth by scoring 75.
Brady Wagner and Cooper Howard both totaled 77, with Myles Ray scoring 79. The Golden Eagles qualified for state for the sixth time, all since 2019.
The Shamrocks’ Hudson Kutchma placed second individually with 73. Zionsville’s Max Steiner won medalist honors with 72.
Westfield’s other scores were Ryan Cesare 76, Keaton Knott 80, Mitchell Keene 81 and Brayden Worthington 86. The Shamrocks return to Prairie View as the defending state champions and reached their 11th state tournament and fifth in row.
Brebeuf Jesuit placed fourth with 321, followed by Carmel in fifth place with 322. Noah Johnson, Alex Gardner and Preston Roberts all scored 80s for the Greyhounds. Ben Wilson totaled 82 and Patrick Wolf scored 83.
