Carmel’s Maya Fujisawa Keuling kept getting better in each round of the Girls State Junior Championship, and that led her to the top.
The incoming Greyhounds sophomore put together a four-under par round of 68 on Friday, June 12 to soar to victory at the finish of the 54-hole tournament at Country Club of Terre Haute. Fujisawa Keuling finished with a score of 215, one under par for the tournament, and was five strokes ahead of Valparaiso’s Kennedy Gutierrez, who scored 220 for second place.
Fujisawa Keuling drained five birdies during her final round and totaled 10 birdies for the entire tournament.
McCordsville’s Ressie Lemmon finished tied for third with 224. She was under par for her final round, carding a one-under 71. Lemmon made four birdies in the third round and finished with seven for the tournament.
Two Westfield golfers also reached the top 10. Farrah Camp tied for sixth with 227 and Kelsey Haverluck tied for eighth with 228. Camp made two birdies in each round for a total of six, while Haverluck had one third-round birdie and eight for the tournament.
