Tom Moore

December 4, 1924 – May 6, 2019

Tom Moore, 94, Noblesville, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019 following complications from a stroke. He was born on December 4, 1924 to the late Thomas and Beulah (Kimberlin) Moore in Indianapolis.

Deployed after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Tom proudly fought the war from the U.S.S. Saratoga. The stories he told of his World War II adventures entertained his family for decades and ultimately led two of his grandsons, Torin and Zakk, to enlist in the United States Marine Corps.

Tom met his wife, Phyllis, after returning from his service in World War II. Tom was a resident of Indianapolis and Noblesville most of his adult life and had a second home in Fort Myers, Fla. Before retirement, Mr. Moore worked for the United States Postal Service, starting as a mail carrier and ending his long career as the public relations spokesperson for the Indianapolis office. Tom was a member of The First Baptist Church of Indianapolis where he served as a deacon.

Tom’s wife of 67 years, Phyllis (Matlock) Moore preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, Kevin Moore and Kevin’s wife, Stephanie; and his daughter, Dianne Traynor and Dianne’s husband, Gary. His six grandchildren, Chris, Sidney and Jessica Moore, and Zachary and Torin Traynor, and Brittany Brogan will miss his love and attention.

Services were held privately by Tom’s family. His care has been entrusted to Randall & Roberts Funeral Homes of Noblesville.
