Noblesville Schools announced Tuesday that an anonymous threat against Noblesville West Middle School was posted on social media.

According to school officials, an online social media exchange about the May 25, 2018 shooting at Noblesville West Middle School escalated over the past weekend. The threat stated, “Tuesday as the date for something to happen.”

Noblesville Schools did keep West Middle school in session Tuesday with increased security. In addition all events at the school will proceed as planned with an increased police presence and counselors available to students and staff.

Students that chose to stay home will be excused. West Middle School Principal Stacey Swan reported a lower than expected attendance rate. According to a statement issued by Noblesville Schools, if your student is going to be absent, please be sure to call the West attendance line at (317) 776-7799. Finals will be made up on an individual basis.

School officials also asked that large bags, including backpacks, be left at home during the West school day and for all West events for the rest of the week. The school will provide clear plastic bags for West students to take home items from lockers.
