Hamilton Heights High School senior Dillon Pitts has signed a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic career at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, where he will join the Cougars baseball program this fall. The University of Saint Francis competes in the Crossroads League as a NAIA institution. He is the son of Dana and Brad Pitts.

Pitts, who plans to study Business Management and Entrepreneurship, chose Saint Francis for its strong baseball program, player development culture, respected coaching staff, and its faith-based academic environment. He also noted the university’s highly regarded business program as a key factor in his decision. After college, he hopes to pursue a career as a firefighter or launch his own business.

Wearing jersey #8, Pitts contributes as both a pitcher and outfielder. A four-year letter winner, he served as a team captain during his senior season. Throughout his high school career, he earned multiple accolades for his performance on the field. Pitts has been passionate about baseball for as long as he can remember, dedicating countless hours to refining his skills and elevating his game.

He credits many individuals for shaping his development as a student-athlete, beginning with his father.

“I wouldn’t be anywhere close to where I am without him,” Pitts said. “He’s been the biggest influence for me on and off the field. He also expressed deep gratitude for his mother’s constant love and support. Beyond his family, he acknowledged Jason Taule (PRP Baseball), Randy Sullivery, Owen Young, the Fishers Sports Academy family, and the Hamilton Heights coaching staff for their guidance and encouragement.

Off the field, Pitts is a member of the National Honor Society and stays active in the community by umpiring, giving baseball lessons, and working with younger athletes.

“I am blessed for this next chapter in my life, as playing college-level baseball has been one of my biggest goals since I was young,” Pitts said. “I’m excited to see what God has in store next in my life.”

“Dillon is as competitive of a kid that I have coached,” Hamilton Heights Head Baseball Coach Adam Hughes said. “He works hard in the classroom and in the weight room. I will miss coaching him and look forward to watching him grow at the next level.”

Hamilton Heights High School Athletic Director Kurt Ogden, added, “Dillon has been a solid contributor to the baseball program the past four years. “His commitment to the sport year-round has helped him develop into the player he is today. It has been fun watching him grow with the sport throughout his high school career and we are proud of him for his accomplishments and opportunity to play at the next level.”
