Joan Roberts

February 28, 1932 – August 29, 2026

Joan Roberts, 94, Carmel, passed away August 29, 2026. She was born on February 28, 1932, in South Bend, Ind., daughter of John and Mary (Misner) Newman.

As a 1946 graduate of Riley High School, Joan continued her education at Ball State where she received her Bachelor of Science degree, and later her Master of Arts from the University of Notre Dame. She was employed with the South Bend School Corporation for several years before moving to Carmel where she worked in the Carmel Clay School Corporation before retirement.

Joan was a member of Carmel United Methodist Church, a longtime member of the Fall Creek Chapter of Questers, and a subscription member of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Joan was actively involved at Conner Prairie and enjoyed volunteering through the years.

Some of Joan’s hobbies included gardening, antiquing, and listening to music. She was an avid reader and enjoyed a genre of books.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Roberts.

Joan’s request was not to have any formal funeral service.
