Hamilton Southeastern (HSE) Schools announced this week that it is beginning the redistricting process to address a growing student population and the expansion of Fishers Elementary School. The work is being driven in part by a construction project that will increase the school’s capacity from 450 to 700 students for the 2026-27 school year.

According to district officials, the added space will help ease overcrowding in some east-side schools and make the best use of facilities across the district.

The school district is seeking community input to help guide the process. A Boundary Criteria Survey is open through Sunday, Aug. 31, to gather feedback that will help shape the options shared in the coming months.

Community members can also get involved by:

  • Applying to be part of virtual focus groups taking place in late September. Applications are due no later than Sunday, Aug. 31.
  • Attending an in-person community meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 20 at Fishers High School (enter Door #19) or on Oct. 21 at Hamilton Southeastern High School (enter Door #1).

All background reports, enrollment data, updates and proposed maps will be posted at hseschools.org/redistricting.

New boundaries are expected to be voted on and approved during the Dec. 10 Board of School Trustees meeting. Once plans are finalized, the district will provide opportunities for students to meet their new principal, tour their new school, and participate in activities designed to make the transition smooth.
