The Hamilton County Community Foundation (HCCF) recognizes the importance of having an engaged board and therefore holds a board retreat every year, which creates a sense of community, collegiality, and teamwork that can be felt throughout the coming year in board and committee meetings.

On Tuesday, board members spent most of the day volunteering, packing food boxes, and learning about Hamilton County Harvest Food Bank and the good work it does for so many in the area.

HCCF knows firsthand that when truly engaged, board members become the organization’s best ambassadors, advocates, strategists, and all-around supporters. This year, HCCF changed the board retreat to provide space and time for personal engagement in mission work through hands-on volunteer opportunities with various not-for-profit partners in Hamilton County.

The goal with this approach is to encourage HCCF board members to increase their commitment to the group’s mission as well as highlight opportunities for them to use their time, talent, and treasure to benefit Hamilton County.
