The Fishers boys golf team scored a significant tournament victory on a windy, warm Saturday at Fox Prairie Golf Course.
The course hosted Noblesville’s annual Bob Spacey Invitational, with 16 teams in attendance. The Tigers finished on top of them all, totaling a 317 to win the event. Fishers finished comfortably ahead of Noblesville Gold and Yorktown, which tied for the runner-up spot with 327s.
Connor McMillan led the way for the Tigers, carding a 71.
“I played really well today, especially with the wind,” said McMillan. “It was good to get on a hot start to the season.”
Eli Toon was next in line for Fishers with a 79, followed by Jonathan Ash with an 82. The Bob Spacey was Fishers’ second 18-hole tournament of the year; Tigers coach Mike Mozingo said his team carded a 319 at Twin Bridges earlier in the season.
“Considering weather and conditions, the way the course was playing, they played pretty well,” said Mozingo. “Stuck things out and Connor McMillan, our No. 1 played really well for us.”
Will Perkins led the Noblesville Gold team with a score of 78, followed by Brady Mangin with an 80. The Millers had two other teams play at Fox Prairie: Their Black team was led by Drew Werkley’s 79 and Wyatt Fazi led the White team with an 80.
Hamilton Southeastern finished with a 331 and had three players score 82: Cole Starnes, Lane Zedrick and Nate Benson. Hamilton Heights scored a 371; Ethan Millsaps led the Huskies with a 90.
