Commissioners recognize public safety telecommunicators with proclamation

On Monday, the Hamilton County Commissioners recognized the week of April 10-16, 2022 as National Telecommunicators Week in Hamilton County by passing a resolution, the text of which follows.

HAMILTON COUNTY In the STATE OF INDIANA PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS: Emergencies can occur at any time that require police, fire, or emergency medical services; and

WHEREAS: When an emergency occurs, the prompt response of police officers, sheriff’s deputies, firefighters, and paramedics is critical to the protection of life and preservation of property; and

WHEREAS: The safety of our police officers, sheriff’s deputies, paramedics and firefighters is dependent upon the quality and accuracy of information obtained from citizens who contact the Hamilton County Public Safety Communications Department; and

WHEREAS: Public Safety Dispatchers are the first and most critical contact our citizens have with emergency services; and

WHEREAS: Public Safety Dispatchers are the single vital link for our police officers, sheriff’s deputies, paramedics and firefighters by monitoring their activities via radio, providing them information and ensuring their safety; and

WHEREAS: The Public Safety Dispatchers of the Hamilton County Public Safety Communications Department have contributed substantially to the apprehension of criminals, suppression of fires, and treatment of patients; and

NOW THEREFORE, WE THE COMMISSIONERS OF HAMILTON COUNTY, IN THE STATE OF INDIANA, do hereby proclaim the week of April 10th through 16th, 2022 to be

“NATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATORS WEEK”

and join in honoring the men and women whose diligence and professionalism keep our County and citizens safe.
