Hamilton County Sheriff Dennis Quakenbush accepted a proclamation from Hamilton County Commissioners declaring this week National Police Week. The week that honors fallen police officers originated in 1962 when President John F. Kennedy designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as Police Week.
