Noblesville receives $12 million BUILD Grant for State Road 37 Project to begin in 2031

The City of Noblesville received $12,000,000 for the State Road 37 Improvement Project through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) Grant Program.

This highly competitive grant process resulted in Noblesville being selected as one of only 127 communities in the United States awarded.

Grant funding will be used to complete the final design for reconstruction of a 1.6-mile segment of State Road 37 between Greenfield Avenue and State Road 32, convert the corridor into a grade-separated highway, replace three signalized intersections with continuous-flow roundabout interchanges, and include an overpass bridge, bridge replacement, and additional access improvements. The upgrades made in this project will enhance pedestrian safety and improve traffic flow.

I appreciate U.S. Senator Jim Banks for advocating on behalf of this pivotal infrastructure investment,” Mayor Chris Jensen said. “As America’s Hometown continues to grow, the State Road 37 project will reduce congestion, improve safety, and make travel along this busy corridor easier. Projects of this magnitude take multiple partners working together to make the vision become a reality. I applaud INDOT, City of Fishers, Hamilton County, and the U.S. Department of Transportation for their contributions to improving safety along SR 37 in Hamilton County.”

Currently, construction of the southern portion of the corridor is programmed to start in 2031. The southern section extends from Greenfield Avenue to Town & Country Boulevard. The BUILD grant federal funds will help finalize the design of the entire corridor, so that construction of the remainder of the project can be shovel ready once construction funds become available.
