Dear Editor:

Tens of thousands of dogs suffer in laboratories across the country every year, including here in Indiana.

Our wildlife is under threat, living with pets keeps getting more expensive, and pet stores continue to run predatory financing schemes that push Hoosiers into debt. We deserve compassionate leaders who champion common-sense policies to make life better for Hoosiers and our animals.

State Representative Alaina Shonkwiler is that leader.

In her first term, Representative Shonkwiler has already proven her dedication to bettering the lives of Hoosiers and the companions we welcome into our homes. She co-authored Sunny’s Bill to give animals in laboratories a second lease on life by requiring Indiana laboratories to work with animal shelters and rescues to help these dogs and cats find loving homes. When Shonkwiler is in office, animals and people have an ally dedicated to making Indiana more humane.

Alaina Shonkwiler is on the ballot this election – and I urge you to make the right choice by re-electing her on Nov. 3. Now more than ever, we need representatives who fight to make life in Indiana better.
