A brand new exhibit will soon be open to the public at Conner Prairie, with multiple new indoor experiences designed to connect Conner Prairie’s history to the present day.

The new exhibits at the Museum Experience Center include Power of Place, Wellspring, Torn, Caring for Collections, and a Spark!Lab. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Monday to celebrate the opening.

Mark Firestone, Conner Prairie’s associate vice president of developing experiences, says the museum building has been around since the 1980s, but the exhibit has made it nearly unrecognizable.

Firestone also says this allows them to have exhibits open year-round and in all types of weather.

“This building gives us a new opportunity to tell stories in new ways,” Firestone said. “We can use new technologies, we can build things like Wellspring that wouldn’t fit out on the grounds.”

The Museum officially opens up to the public on Friday, but Firestone says those who have already toured the exhibits are blown away.

“Honestly, I’ve been watching all the faces, and it’s just surprise and delight. I think people don’t expect something of this level from Conner Prairie,” Firestone said.
