Westfield officials on Wednesday unveiled the city’s public art initiative, the Artistic Bench Program, made possible by a 2024 Indiana Arts Commission Arts Project Support (APS) grant.
This program showcases four vibrantly muraled benches throughout the city, celebrating local artists and enriching public spaces for residents and visitors alike.
The four muraled benches are strategically placed across the city: wwo at Hadley Park (northwest corner of State Road 32 and Union Street), one along the Monon Trail north of the State Road 32 pedestrian bridge, and one along the Midland Trace Trail near Gray Road. Each bench tells a story through its design, allowing people to sit, reflect, and engage with the artwork as they enjoy Westfield’s scene outdoor spaces.
According to a press release, the collaboration with local artists Andre Parnell, Kathy Garnes, Chris Blice, and various artists from Janus Developmental Services “highlights Westfield’s commitment to supporting and promoting local talent. Their lively designs bring a fresh artistic dimension to the city’s parks and trails, ensuring that art is accessible to all members of the community.”
