The Fishers boys basketball team won the Mudsock game last Friday, beating Hamilton Southeastern 65-49 at the Fishers Event Center.
The Tigers jumped out to a 16-8 lead after the first quarter, then led 27-16 at halftime. Jason Gardner scored 10 points for Fishers, while Cooper Zachary made two 3-pointers, one in each quarter.
The Tigers poured in 22 points in the third period for a 49-28 lead. Five different players scored in that quarter, with Justin Kirby getting six points. Nathan Baker added five points. Fishers stayed in front in the fourth period; Kirby scored another five points.
Four Tigers reached double figures, led by Gardner’s 16 points; he scored in each quarter. Kirby added 13 points, Baker scored 12 and JonAnthony Hall finished with 10. Kirby also had six rebounds and two blocked shots, while Gardner handed out four assists.
Maverick Young led the Royals with 17 points; he was 7-of-7 from the free-throw line in the fourth period and 9-of-10 for the game. Braeden Totten added 10 points; both players also scored in each quarter.
Landon Osswald scored seven points and Zachary Tanzel hit two 3s for six points. Tottean also pulled seven rebounds.
The Royals are 3-3 and play at the BSN Holiday Tournament this weekend. Southeastern will compete in three pool games: South Bend St. Joseph at 10 a.m. Friday, Valparaiso at 6 p.m. Friday and Fort Wayne Carroll at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Those games will determine HSE’s placement game, to be played Saturday afternoon.
Fishers played a home game against Shortridge last Saturday and won 93-64. The Tigers led 27-15 after the first period and 53-29 at halftime.
Five different Fishers players scored in double figures, with Gardner leading the way by pouring in 18 points. Baker totaled 15 points, Millen McCartney scored 12, Logan Sigler added 11 points and Hall scored 10. Zachary drained three 3s for nine points.
The Tigers are 7-0 and play at the Henry Community Health Hall of Fame Classic at New Castle on Saturday. Fishers plays Warsaw in the first game at 11 a.m., followed by Greenfield-Central taking on Jeffersonville. The consolation game tips off at 6 p.m., with the championship game starting at 7:45 p.m.
