Hamilton County Health Department accepting grant applications

Submission deadline approaching

The Hamilton County Health Department is now accepting grant applications from organizations with projects that address gaps in health care in Hamilton County.

The grants will be funded through the state’s Health First Indiana program created by Senate Enrolled Act 4. The General Assembly passed legislation last year that will invest $225 million in public health over the next two years.

“Each local health department that opted into the program is allowed to determine and invest in the unique needs of their communities,” Health Department Administrator Jason LeMaster said. “We look forward to partnering with other health-focused organizations to address gaps in our public health services and find ways to enhance the health and well-being of our residents.”

Applicants are encouraged to propose projects, programs, or activities aligned with the following priority Core Public Health Service (CPHS) areas for Hamilton County:

• Maternal and Child Health
• Improved Birth Outcome programs
• Child & Adult Immunizations
• School Health
• Fatality Prevention Initiatives
• Referral programs
• Chronic Disease Prevention
• Access to and Linkage to Clinical Care
• Trauma and Injury Prevention
• Tobacco Prevention and Cessation

There is currently no set limit on how much an organization can request in funding. Eligible and complete applications will be evaluated in accordance with the review criteria and must be approved by the Hamilton County Commissioners. Awards will be disbursed in single payments in January 2025.
