Sheridan Teacher of the Year earns top 25 honors in Indiana

In May, Sheridan Community Schools (SCS) named Ryan Kelleher as the SCS Teacher of the Year.

Kelleher works as both a high school science teacher and a corporation instructional coach. He helps serve every teacher within the district, whether it is through his expertise or just through a bit of technology help.

One of the SCS nominators said, “Mr. Kelleher is not only a fantastic teacher but a wonderful human being. He always treats everyone around him with kindness and respect.”

In May, Kelleher said, “I am incredibly honored to be recognized. There are so many deserving and talented educators who are making a difference in the lives of our students every day.”

Last Friday, the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) released the top 25 within the state, and Kelleher made the list, which is no surprise to anyone at SCS.

“For more than 60 years, the Indiana Teacher of the Year (INTOY) program has worked to inspire, rejuvenate, and celebrate the teaching profession by recognizing outstanding teachers from across the state,” IDOE Chief Academic Officer Anna Shults said. “The INTOY honor is a lifetime role in education, which has many opportunities to celebrate teaching and uplift the teaching profession.”

The people of SCS are grateful for Kelleher’s dedication, leadership, and commitment to helping students and staff succeed. His commitment and service are a true reflection of what it means to support a school community.
