On Tuesday night, Hamilton Heights hit the road to play Hagerstown. The Huskies got off the bus on a mission and kept their foot on the gas pedal, rolling to a big road win over the Tigers, 77-43.
The Huskies jumped out big in the first quarter lead, making a statement 25-7.
Hagerstown tightened up on the defense in the second and scored a little in the process. Heights was still able to outscore the Tigers 16-13 to push their lead even more at halftime to 41-20.
Hamilton Heights came out of the halftime locker room in the third and kept the offense going. The Huskies scored 22 to the Tigers’ 18 for a 63-38 margin with one quarter left.
The Tigers simply ran out of gas in the fourth with just five points while yielding 14 on the way to a 77-43 win for the Huskies, their biggest victory of the season thus far.
Heights was able to get five into double figures. Tillman Etchison led with 17, with John Irion and Tyler Champion each scoring 12. Dreydin Serna and Landen Scheiber both had 10, while Sam Dawson and Carson Felger chipped in with six each.
The Huskies shot 58 percent overall, making 34 of 58 field goals, including knocking down 7-for-16 from outside for 43 percent.
Hamilton Heights (8-8) plays at home on Friday against Class 2A No. 1 Tipton (14-1).
