IHSAA announces girls sectional pairings

The IHSAA announced the girls basketball sectional pairings last Sunday.

Hamilton County’s Class 4A schools travel to Hamilton Southeastern to play in Sectional 8. The Royals will take on Westfield in the site’s first game, which is set for Tuesday, Jan. 30. That will be followed by another opening-round game, with Carmel taking on Fishers.

The semifinals take place Friday, Feb. 2. Zionsville plays the Westfield-Southeastern winner, with Noblesville playing the Carmel-Fishers winner.

Hamilton Heights travels to Yorktown for Class 3A Sectional 24, a seven-team site. The Huskies play New Castle in the second of two first-round games on Wednesday, Jan. 31. The opening game that night will take place between Centerville and Frankton.

Yorktown and Jay County play the sectional’s first game on Tuesday, Jan. 30, with the winner advancing to face Delta in the Feb. 2 semifinals. The two Wednesday winners play the second semifinal game that night.

Guerin Catholic heads south to Bishop Chatard to compete in Class 3A Sectional 27. The Golden Eagles got the bye and play in the Feb. 2 semifinal, taking on the winner of a first-round game between Heritage Christian and Herron. In the other side of the bracket, Brebeuf Jesuit plays the host Trojans in the first round, with the winner advancing to take on Shortridge in the semifinals.

Sheridan and University will play at Class 2A Sectional 43 at Park Tudor. As a four-team site, this sectional begins on Friday, Feb. 2. The Blackhawks play the host Panthers in the evening’s first game, while the Trailblazers take on Covenant Christian in the following game.

Sectional championships at all four sites are set for Saturday, Feb. 3.
