Costumes, running shoes, and plenty of Halloween spirit return to Carmel High School at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, for Carmel Education Foundation’s (CEF) 18th annual Ghosts & Goblins 1M/5K Run/Walk.
One of CEF’s signature community events, Ghosts & Goblins brings together students, families, educators, businesses, and neighbors for a fun morning that directly supports CEF and its mission to invest in CCS students and educators. Participants of all ages can choose the timed 1-mile or 5K course, with both races beginning and ending at Carmel High School. Costumes are encouraged, and strollers are welcome.
“Ghosts & Goblins is one of those mornings that really feels like Carmel,” CEF CEO Jennifer Penix said. “Families, students, teachers, and community partners show up to have fun, but they are also doing something meaningful for our schools. Every registration helps CEF invest back into students and educators through grants, programs across Carmel Clay Schools, and scholarships. We also love partnering with Carmel High School Dance Marathon because it gives families another way to celebrate the season, stay together and support kids beyond our own school community.”
Proceeds from Ghosts & Goblins support CEF programs that provide additional opportunities and resources for Carmel Clay students and educators, including classroom and student-led grants, scholarships, and district-wide initiatives.
More treats in 2026
Participants and supporters can order a commemorative 2026 Ghosts & Goblins T-shirt or hoodie as part of registration, perfect for race morning and fall weather.
CEF is also collaborating with Carmel High School Dance Marathon, giving families the option to extend their Halloween morning after the race with Trick or Treat for Riley Kids at Murray Stadium beginning at 11 a.m. The separate event features trick-or-treating, games, and activities benefiting Riley Children’s Hospital, offering a fun added bonus for families already enjoying the morning at Carmel High School.
