State Senator Jim Buck announces intent to run for re-election in 2026

State Senator Jim Buck (R-Kokomo) says he intends to seek another term in the legislature representing Hoosiers in Senate District 21, which includes Tipton County and portions of both Hamilton and Howard counties.

“I’m excited by our recent efforts to reform property taxes, and advance education and health care reforms. I want to continue to be a part of these important initiatives,” Buck said. “I have always believed in limited government and fiscal responsibility and I’m proud of my record on those issues. Hoosiers deserve government that works responsibly within its means, and I will continue to focus on making sure our state works for all her citizens.”

During his tenure in the legislature Buck has worked on a wide variety of legislation, but he’s most proud of his efforts to reform the annexation process to make it less cumbersome for Hoosiers, and his work to reform local government and pass honestly balanced state budgets.

“I have enjoyed working with the new Braun administration and with my colleagues in the legislature,” Buck said, “and I would like to continue to be a part of instituting new policies to make the Hoosier state an even better place to live, work, and raise a family.”

Buck currently chairs the Senate Committee on Local Government and also serves on the following Senate committees: Environmental Affairs, Homeland Security & Transportation, Judiciary, Rules & Legislative Procedure, and Veterans Affairs & the Military.

Retired from Delphi and a real estate broker, Buck resides in Kokomo with his wife Judy. They have five daughters (one deceased) and 10 grandchildren.
