From national rankings, sportsmanship awards, and college readiness, Sheridan Community Schools (SCS) is celebrating multiple accolades.

The school system has earned top academic rankings and Sheridan High School (SHS) has continued its tradition of sportsmanship and its commitment to being an Early College school system. As an Early College High School, SCS is committed to preparing students for life.

The 2025-2026 Best High Schools rankings by U.S. News and World Report was released last week. SHS placed 23rd in the Indianapolis Metro Area (out of 105 schools) and 75th in the state (437 schools). This is a huge milestone as it has secured Sheridan a place among the top 40 percent of high schools nationwide. Also, compared to the much larger surrounding schools, this is a huge accomplishment for a school the size of Sheridan. With that being said, SHS has earned the distinction of being one of the U.S. News Best High Schools.

SHS Principal Rick Davis expressed pride in this honor, saying, “The ranking reflects the dedication of our students, teachers, staff, and families. We will continue to put in consistent effort, like we do every day, to prepare our students for success beyond high school.”

For the seventh consecutive year, Sheridan High School has been awarded the IHSAA Sportsmanship Banner. This recognition shows the schools and athletic departments commitment to being role models every day. This recognition is a direct reflection of the coaches, athletes, and entire Sheridan community.

Finally, SCS celebrated being a “FAFSA Completions School.” In order to receive this recognition, SCS had to meet Indiana’s statewide goal of 60 percent FAFSA completion among seniors. This again highlights Sheridan’s commitment to ensuring preparedness beyond high school, whether that is in college, trade schools, or the workforce.

SCS Curriculum Director Valerie Love said she is proud of this achievement.

“[It] shows the dedication of our counseling staff and faculty to promote student opportunities. FAFSA is just one step parents and students can take towards success after high school.”

All of these accomplishments and achievements directly show Sheridan’s initiative and how they are preparing students to be ready for life beyond their classrooms.

“We are proud of our accolades, but these accomplishments are more than banners or badges, they demonstrate that at SCS we are preparing students to thrive,” Davis said.
