Noblesville’s own Jacob Modleski to compete in Walker Cup

Submitted

Noblesville native Jacob Modleski will be among 10 players representing the United States in the 50th Walker Cup Match on Sept. 6 and 7 at Cypress Point Club in Pebble Beach, Calif.

The Walker Cup, first contested in 1922, is a biennial competition that puts the top amateur players from the United States against the best from Great Britain and Ireland. The format is similar to the Ryder Cup, featuring foursomes (alternate shot) and singles matches across two days, with 26 total matches determining which side hoists the trophy.

Modleski, 20, is the 13th-ranked player on the World Amateur Golf Ranking. A rising junior at the University of Notre Dame and Guerin Catholic graduate, he became the first player in school history to win the Atlantic Coast Conference individual title in 2025 and earned second-team All-America honors. He also reached the semifinals of the Western Amateur this summer and advanced to the quarterfinals of both the 2024 and 2025 U.S. Amateurs. Earlier in his career, he helped Notre Dame qualify for the NCAA Championship for the first time since regional play began in 1989 and captured the 2024 Jones Cup Invitational.

For Indiana fans, Modleski’s ascent has brought both Noblesville and Notre Dame into the national golf spotlight, and his Walker Cup selection puts him on one of the game’s most prestigious stages.
