Joyce Ann Poe, lovingly known as Joyce, was born on the April 2, 1939, in Crab Orchard, Tenn., to Roscoe and Jane Boles. She was a radiant expression of creativity and compassion, whose love and support knew no bounds. Joyce departed from us on July 31, 2026, leaving a legacy of love, commitment, and strength that will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Joyce was a dedicated cosmetologist, serving her community for over 50 years with skill and passion. Her creativity wasn’t limited to her professional life; she was an avid artist who enjoyed painting, crafting, crocheting, and knitting. Joyce found joy in the intricate beauty of diamond art and the thrill of a visit to the casino. She was also a proud member of the Moose Lodge in Noblesville. Her home in Cicero was a sanctuary of warmth and love, not only for her beloved family and friends but also for her treasured dogs Taz, Mocha, and Teddy.
Joyce was the loving wife of William “Bill” Poe, who together shared an enduring marriage for 48 years filled with mutual respect and affection. She is survived by her husband Bill; their children, Paula (Ron) Williams, Renee (Jack) Spears, Stephen “Steve” (Lori) Crook, and Kim Harris-Drook. Joyce was a cherished grandmother to Shayne Williams, Jake (Megan) Williams, Justin (Darr) Spears, Josh Spears, Brittany (Dusty) Wood, Dustin (Jorgia) Crook, and Shelby (Bradley) Jaworski; she was a proud great-grandmother to 15 wonderful children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Jane Boles; her son, Kevin Poe; her grandsons, Brandon Harris and Jay Spears; her sibling, Louise Gang, Helen Wheeler, Arnold Boles, Sue Edens, Gary Boles, Don Boles, Fay Cloud, and Rita Boles.
The visitation for Joyce will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Hartley-Dunnichay Funeral Home, 209 W. Jackson St., Cicero. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 2 p.m. with Pastor Rick Bell officiating. Services are under the direction of Hartley-Dunnichay Funeral Homes – Cicero.
