Jackson Township Trustee Christina (Chris) Miller is pleased to announce her appointment of Jeff Muszar as the new Jackson Township Fire Chief. Chief Muszar was selected by the trustee and the township board. He has a degree from Butler University in Business and Finance and served the department as part time Paramedic and Fire Fighter. Chief Muszar’s extensive background and experience will bring a great deal of operational, technical and administrative expertise to the Jackson Township Fire Department.

Muszar told The Reporter he had served as interim chief for about a month before being chosen as the new Fire Chief. During his time as interim chief he said he looked around and realized the people he was working with, “had become a family,” and this was a position in which he thought he could make a difference.

Chief Muszar had to undergo the same application process as every other candidate for this position and was selected after a thorough process which was conducted with the trustee and township board.

Muszar is using the phrase, “Our family serving your family” as a point of branding for the Jackson Township Fire Department. When asked about that, he told The Reporter, “These guys are my family. I really mean it. This brotherhood and sisterhood of firefighters have been here for a long time. I’ve got to work all the shifts and got to know everyone in the department. This is the best opportunity of a lifetime.”

Chief Muszar will enter the position with over 30 years of dedicated service and experience in public safety ranging from police, fire and EMS serving Marion and Hamilton counties as well as Greenville County, S.C. where he first began his public safety career.

The Jackson Township Trustee, along with the Township Board commends Chief Muszar and all the men and women of the Jackson Township Fire Department for their leadership, continued excellence, adaptability and dedication during this transition period.
