Cicero native Kristin Moon to compete for national title

Submitted

Kristin Moon, Mrs. Cicero, was crowned Mrs. Indiana American 2020 on June 27 in Mishawaka at the St. Joseph Convention Center.

Additionally, Justus Kelley, Bloomington, was crowned Mrs. Indiana America and Chantal Sherfy, Muncie, was crowned Miss Indiana for America 2020.

All three ladies will join titleholders from all 50 states and the District of Columbia for interview, swimsuit and evening gown competitions, for the titles of Mrs. America, Mrs. American and Miss for America 2020. The winners from both the Mrs. and Miss National pageants will move forward to compete in Sri Lanka in November for the title of Mrs. World 2021 and Miss World 2021.

The Mrs. America pageants were originally established to honor married women throughout the United States and in 2019 the Miss for America pageant was added for adult single women. Each contestant must promote at least one community service organization. In addition, state and national titleholders support Mrs. America’s corporate philanthropy, Victoria’s Voice Foundation.

Victoria’s Voice was created by David Siegel after he and his family lost their daughter to a drug overdose.

Kristin Marie Moon is a resident of Cicero. She has been married for eight years to her husband, Brad. They have three children – two sons, Logan and Connor, and a daughter, Olivia. Moon is a 2014 graduate of the University of Indianapolis with a Master of Science in Nursing.

Moon has a National Certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She works at Beck’s Superior Hybrids in Atlanta overseeing their Health Clinic. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, music and camping at state parks with her family.

After a non-fatal drowning accident that occurred this past summer, Moon is strongly passionate about the importance of CPR and advocating for drowning awareness. Her mission is to have at least one member of each family learn CPR. She has partnered with the American Heart Association as a Heartsaver Instructor and Social Media Ambassador, and is a member of the National Drowning Prevention Alliance.

Moon will be available to speak to your organization or group about water safety and CPR, and she welcomes any opportunity to speak to elementary school children about water safety.
