Marlita Beth (Shoe) Waggoner

October 22, 1936 – March 15, 2024

Marlita Beth (Shoe) Waggoner, 87, Sheridan, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Bridgewater Healthcare Center in Carmel. She was born on October 22, 1936, to Jonathan Joel (Joe) and Ethel (Boyer) Shoe in rural Clinton County, Ind.

Marlita attended Sugar Creek Schools in Pickard, Ind., for 11 years, and then graduated in 1954 from Sheridan High School and received her nursing degree from Indiana University School of Nursing in Indianapolis. She worked as a school nurse at Sheridan Community Schools for 35 years. She was a member of Hills Baptist Church in Kirklin, Ind., and Phi Beta Psi Sorority and former member of Sheridan Kiwanis. Marlita was an avid IU fan and enjoyed Sheridan basketball. She volunteered at church in many areas: pianist, Sunday School teacher, clerk, handbell player, and Women’s Circle.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Philip Waggoner; daughter, Beth (Brian) Stewart; and sons, Jeff Waggoner and Jay Waggoner.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Zonda (Shoe) Walker and Burdena Shoe.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the funeral home, with Rev. VJ Stover officiating. Burial will be at Crown View Cemetery in Sheridan with Rev. Charles Cole officiating.
