Hamilton County Soil and Water event date set for February 22

The Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) announces its annual meeting scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 22 at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds. This event includes multiple workshop sessions of interest to both agricultural and suburban property owners.

The meeting and workshop runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cost is $12 per person, which includes lunch. The meeting will feature various exhibitors and concurrent education sessions.

Morning sessions include: Impact of Cover Crops, Where the Wild Things Were (a natural history session with county historian David Heighway), Dicamba training and Indy Wildlife Watch: Using photography to understand how urban wildlife utilize urban and periurban habitat with Dr. Julia Angstmann the Director Butler Center for Urban Ecology. The agriculture sessions are eligible for CCH, CCA and PARP credits.

Attendees at the annual meeting will be presented with a summary report of 2017 SWCD activities and a vote will be held to elect a supervisor for the one open position on the SWCD board. The SWCD Board of Supervisors Election Candidate is Rodney Rulon. Nominations from the floor will also be accepted.
