1960 Sheridan High School graduate, Jim Godby, has accomplished a lot in his life including a standout athletic career, Purdue University graduate with distinction, Vietnam War veteran, philanthropist, and a local entrepreneur who grew a small-town Sheridan business into a Central Indiana multi-outlet furniture business.

Now, Godby can add author to his resume.

Living the American Dream, a 100-page autobiography loaded with Sheridan history, tells the story of how Godby grew his business from scratch, beginning with a small store in Sheridan, to the current family-owned operation with locations in Avon, Carmel and Noblesville/Fishers.

Copies of Godby’s book can be purchased by visiting the new Sheridan Historical Society at 315 S. Main St., Sheridan, on any Tuesday or Friday afternoon from 1 to 4 p.m.

The cost of the book is $20. All proceeds are being donated to the Sheridan Historical Society, reflecting on the fact that that the Sheridan community has been a favorite charity of Jim Godby and his family for years.
