Chamber supports Sheridan Schools

Dear Editor:

The Northern Hamilton County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors fully supports the Sheridan Community Schools and the Board of Trustees in their need for passing a referendum on May 2, 2017. Dr. Dave Mundy has issued a document that explains the reasons for this referendum, provides the tax rate history, and offers samples of the cost of the referendum based on home value. All of which, make a sound case for the support of this referendum. For reference, we are including that document with this letter of support and we further ask that you also support the referendum, the Sheridan Community Schools, and the children of Sheridan.

The Northern Hamilton County Chamber of Commerce believes that a strong school system creates a strong community. To keep the community of Sheridan strong, they must have the financial resources necessary to effectively educate the children of Sheridan. This investment in education will have long-term economic benefits for the community. Having excellent public schools are key to recruiting and retaining talent within the Sheridan community, which is critical to business growth. Other benefits include maintained and increased property values, lower crime rates, more stable families, less demand for social programs, and a strong sense of community. These significant community benefits are worth this investment.

We share the Sheridan Community Schools’ perspective on the referendum and affirm that by supporting the referendum it will be a good investment in our businesses, children, and community at large, enhancing the quality of life for many. As such, we ask that you support this referendum and vote to pass it.

As always, the Chamber serves as an advocate representing the best interest of our area businesses and community.

Sincerely

Ann M. Kuzee

President, Northern Hamilton County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors
