Carl Freeman Willoughby, Jr. 65, Noblesville, passed away on May 23, 2022, at Community North Hospital in Indianapolis.
He was born May 23, 1957, in St. Louis, Mo., to Carl Freeman and Chloe (Townsend) Willoughby.
Carl attended Jackson Township schools and graduated from Hamilton Heights High School with the Class of 1976. He was on the Husky football team all four years. He had recently retired from the Cicero Seventh-day Adventist Church and had previously been employed at Stone Spectrum in Cicero and Woods Wire in Carmel.
Carl had many interests. He had remained a loyal fan and supporter of the Hamilton Heights Huskies and on most days, he could be seen wearing orange Husky apparel. He had served as a volunteer for the Atlanta Volunteer Fire Department as well as the Hamilton County Tri-Town Alert System. He also was an avid storm chaser and would keep his Facebook friends up to date on any severe weather advisories.
He had many friends who described him as a good, gentle soul who was very loving and nonjudgmental, as well as being a kind spiritual advisor when needed.
Local survivors include his cousin, Bill (Carolyn) Townsend and Mike Parnell, both of Arcadia, and Darlene (Mike) Spillan of Elwood. He had several relatives who lived a distance from Carl, including John Gregory of Florida.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Terry Willoughby.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at the Cicero Seventh-day Adventist Church, 24445 State Road 19, Cicero, with Pastor Aaron Clark officiating. A time of visitation will be from 3 p.m. until time of the service. Burial will be at the Arcadia Cemetery.
