Baseball: Sheridan beats Bethesda Christian

The Sheridan baseball team cruised to a 7-1 home victory over Bethesda Christian on Tuesday.

Chance Spencer scored the Blackhawks’ first run on an error during the first inning. The Patriots tied the game in the bottom of the first, and the score stayed 1-1 in the second inning.

Sheridan moved ahead for good with three runs in the third inning. Spencer scored again on an error, then Brayden Whisman blasted a left field home run, also bringing in Atticus Clayton.

Austin Hinshaw cracked a solo homer in the fourth inning, giving the Hawks a 5-1 advantage. Tanner Dawson provided the final runs in the fifth inning with a two-RBI single that scored Cesar Cuautle and Clayton.

Freshman Levi Gellert pitched five innings for the win, striking out five and allowing two hits. Braelan Bochner secured the win with two no-hit innings, also striking out five.

Sheridan is 3-3 and plays Thursday at Western Boone.
