Burger Battle Saturday

Building Tomorrow, an Indianapolis-based nonprofit, will hold its seventh annual Indy Burger Battle from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday West Georgia Street in Downtown Indianapolis. You can go help Hamilton County prove it has the best burgers around.

Carmel’s The Pint Room and Prodigy Burger & Bar are participating, as is The Stacked Pickle. Unlike some elections, this is one where your vote really does count.

Restaurants from all over the area create their own unique burger to serve as sliders, and you get to try each of them to decide whose is the most scrumptious. At the end of the day, your vote will determine the People’s Choice Champion, and local celebrity judges will determine the Critic’s Choice Champion to crown the best burgers in Indianapolis.

All proceeds from the event will benefit event organizer and Indianapolis-based nonprofit Building Tomorrow and its vision of a world where all children have access to an inclusive, transformative education.

About Building Tomorrow

The story starts in 2004, when Building Tomorrow founder and Indy native George Srour found himself standing inside a Ugandan school of four classrooms, each filled with 125 students. Still a student himself, Srour fundraised $45,000 and established Building Tomorrow’s first school in Kampala, Uganda, in 2006.

Fast forward to 2019: The organization has opened 75 schools in rural Uganda, with another six under construction. Built and supported by the community, these schools are designed to accommodate students with physical and intellectual disabilities, and the classrooms are organized to achieve the best possible learning outcomes. The end result? Community-supported, child-friendly and inclusive learning environments, serving over 100,000 students every day.
