Every child deserves to experience the joy of unwrapping gifts from under the tree on Christmas morning. The reality is, not every child enjoys the magic of Christmas due to financial strains families are facing.
Through The Salvation Army of Central Indiana’s Angel Tree & Toy Shop program 5,000 children will feel that Christmas joy – and you can help.

Now until Dec. 3, people in the community can sponsor an Angel (child) through The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program. Each sponsor is asked to spend around $100 to $125 on gifts for the Angel they decide to sponsor. Selecting your Angel is now easier than it has ever been with all Angels ready to adopt online. Just visit the Angel Tree website here to select your Angel(s).
Participating in Angel Tree is a meaningful way to give back, and it can also be fun. Make it a family tradition, organize a group of coworkers or friends, or challenge your office to adopt multiple Angels together. Share your experience on social media using #CentralIndianaAngelTree and help inspire others to join in spreading Christmas joy.
For those unable to sponsor an Angel directly, there are still plenty of ways to show support.
- Donate to the Angel Tree Program: $25 helps buy two toys for a child. Click here to make a safe and secure online donation today.
- Buy a toy from the Walmart Registry: Walmart will ship your gift directly to The Salvation Army! Start shopping our Angel Tree registry now by clicking here.
“The Angel Tree & Toy Shop is a great program if you want to give back this year,” said Major Malinda O’Neil, Area Commander of The Salvation Army. “Families come to us with more than just a list of toys. Often, they are their child’s greatest needs outside of toys, like shoes, diapers, bedding and clothing.”
The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree & Toy Shop program goes back decades, but the purpose has remained the same: to share the joy of Christmas with struggling families.
The program is also in need of volunteers. The Salvation Army of Central Indiana needs help sorting, taking inventory, and even distributing the toys to parents and their families. If you are interested in volunteering this Christmas, contact Kathy Dalla Costa at Kathy.DallaCosta@usc.salvationarmy.org.
Together, everyone can make sure each child in central Indiana wakes up to a Christmas morning filled with joy, hope, and love.
