First woman of color to lead Y board of directors

CEO of Mays Chemical, Kristin Mays-Corbitt elected board chair

The Board of Directors of the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis has elected Kristin Mays-Corbitt, President & CEO of Mays Chemical, as its Chair. She is the first Black woman elected to the position.

Mays-Corbitt joined Mays Chemical in 1997 as a Customer Service Representative and worked in a variety of positions before being named President & CEO in 2012. She earned both a bachelor’s degree in business management and an MBA from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business.

“Kristin has a passion for investing in the community and brings a rich legacy of high standards and excellence from her leadership with Mays Chemical,” said Gregg Hiland, president & CEO of the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis. “We look forward to her bringing innovative ideas, leadership talents and critical thinking to her role as Board Chair at the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis.”

Mays-Corbitt serves on the boards of Hamilton Southeastern High School’s Royal Pride PTO, Central Indiana Corporate Partnership, Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, Indiana University School of Business Dean Council, the 16 Tech Community Corporation, the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee, and IU Health. She volunteers on the NBA All Star 2024 Board of Directors and volunteered on the Civic Advisory Council for NFL Super Bowl XLVI.

With locations in Indianapolis, Avon, Fishers and Lebanon, wellness and aquatics programs in Westfield, a 240-acre overnight camp and a Youth Development service branch, the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis helps individuals and families build healthy spirits, minds, and bodies.
