Drake Edwards of Peoria, Ariz. won the feature event at the Stoops Star Spangled Showdown on Tuesday, the first night of the BC39 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s Dirt Track.
Edwards paced the 30-lap feature, followed by Kevin Thomas Jr. of Cullman, Ala. in second place and Gavin Miller of Allentown, Pa. in third.
“Pretty special to be able to win in this facility,” Edwards said in an interview with USAC Racing afterwards. “It’s definitely something you dream about growing up. Stressful with the lapped traffic there, but cool to get the win.”
The BC39 is named after Noblesville’s Bryan Clauson, honoring the USAC champion and Indianapolis 500 starter.
Gates open tonight at 4 p.m. for championship night of the BC39. Hot laps start at 6:30 p.m., followed by opening ceremonies at 7 p.m. The night culminates with the 39-lap feature event.
