It is now officially summer in Noblesville, as one of its great traditions took place this past weekend.

Forest Park hosted the annual Enchanted Forest Swim Meet last Friday through Sunday, June 26 to 28. A total of 13 swim clubs competed in the meet, including host Noblesville Swim Club. Westfield Aquatics and Southeastern Swim Club also had swimmers at the meet.

The only hiccup came on the meet’s first day, when it rained steadily during the afternoon session. But that was as bad as the weather got.

Derek and Mandy Arnold served as the meet directors and spoke to The Reporter on the Saturday of the meet.

“We’ve had lots of great swims,” said Derek Arnold. “We’ve had a good turnout from the spectators. I think everyone seems to be enjoying the concession stand and the music from our awesome announcer, too.”

The awesome announcer, Adam Biddle, also kept swimmers going with the “hot laps,” where music is played during a race.

“You see the kids dancing around the pool deck,” said Mandy Arnold. “It really gets them pumped up for the race.”

Both Noblesville and Westfield had several winners, starting with the Open division, which is generally high school and older swimmers.

If your name was Blackwell, you won a few Girls Open events for Noblesville. Hayley Blackwell was first in three freestyle races, the 100, 200 and 1500. Kyra Blackwell was victorious in the 50 and 100 breaststrokes.

Addie Goettler also claimed three events for Noblesville, in the 200 and 400 individual medley races, plus the 200 breaststroke.

Southeastern’s Ash Saple won the 50 free, while Westfield’s Caroline Sindelar was the 50 backstroke winner.

Westfield’s Will Chambley was the swimmer to beat in the Boys Open division, winning five events. He finished first in the 200 and 400 IMs, 100 and 200 breaststrokes and the 200 backstrokes.

Garreth Thomas picked up two more wins for Westfield, pacing the 200 butterfly and 200 free.

Noblesville had four boys win events in the Open category. Joshua Naas was first in the 1500 free. Eli Clutch Creakbaum paced the 50 breaststroke, Jackson Teske won the 100 backstroke and Brayden Wright was first in the 50 backstroke.

Here is a list of top-five county finishers from the Open divisions. More results will appear throughout the week.
